Kirikurobo are baked sweets made from flour and lots of brown sugar and are one of my favorite Japanese sweets. They match well with hot green tea as well as coffee! These small “cakes” are soft inside (no filling) but crispy on the outside due to their molasses coating.
In fact there are many manufacturers making this kind of sweet, but this one is the best! I gave it as a present to my Japanese friends, and they were super happy because they only knew of other similar products which weren’t so delicious.
You can buy these sweets at SEIYU （西友）store. There are many stores all over Japan, which you can check on this page: http://www.seiyu.co.jp/searchshop (Japanese language only)).
One 300g pack costs about 250 yen!! Nice, isn’t it?
I hope you’ll enjoy these sweets as well as your stay in Japan!
